Papers, 1938-1993 (inclusive).

Collection consists of photographs, invitation, one issue of T.i.d.e (published by students of Peoria Central High School), and clippings, mostly about Friedan and her activities in high school, collected by biographer Sondra Henry. Most of the material came from Friedan's childhood friend, Marian Stein. Also copy of a typed letter signed from Friedan to Henry, 1988.

Betty Friedan was born Bettye Goldstein on February 4, 1921, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Miriam (Horwitz) Goldstein. She attended Peoria public schools and graduated summa cum laude from Smith College in 1942. She continued her studies as a University fellow in psychology at the University of California, Berkeley (1943).
